Austrian musician Bernhard Schimpelsberger composes genre defying music, drawing from a unique palette of percussions from all around the world. Bernhard grew up in Austria deeply rooted in Jazz and Western classical music, but it was his dedicated years of studies in India that shaped his unique approach to rhythm and music. Under the tutelage of Pandit Suresh Talwalkar, one of the legendary Tabla masters of our time Bernhard emerged himself in the Indian rhythmic system and incorporated its poetry and intricacy into his western music making.
For Bernhard rhythm is a universal language and in his Rhythm Diaries he facilitates meetings that transcend boundaries and borders.
Bernhard has composed music for orchestra, art installations and many contemporary dance shows. His unique approach to rhythm creates a cinematic texture that is well sought after by artists across all genres.
He has all toured around the globe performing with artists such as Anoushka Shankar, Nitin Sawhney, Talvin Singh, Susheela Raman, Gwilym Simcock or Thomas Gould.
